ARTIST SPOTLIGHT – Efrain

This week, we welcome Efrain to the CBFC Artist Spotlight!

Q. Where are you from?

A. I’m from Oviedo, in the north of Spain!

Q. How long you’ve been drawing?

A. I started drawing at the age of 11. Thats when I bought a copy of Jim Lee´s Xmen #11 and I was amazed by his usage of pencils.

Q. What materials do you prefer to use for your art?

A. I usually work with Pentel mechanical pencils and erasers,  mainly HB 0.5., and I also draw with Tombow eraser pencils. Currently, I am thinking about getting a digital sketching device.

Q. Character you love to draw?

A. I love drawing characters such as Wolverine, Rogue, Magik, Batman, Wonder Woman.

Q. Character that you want to draw that you havn’t drawn yet?

A. I am in love with Saint Seiya characters, but I have not had the chance to draw them yet.

Q. What artist inspires you the most and why?

A. Many! I am into 80s stuff, like the work of John Buscema, John Byrne, Mike Zeck.. but my main inspiration is Jim Lee, because of his anatomy representation and shadow lines. Other artists that inspire me are Arthur Adams, Kubert brothers, Jim Cheung, Philip Tan

Q. What was your first published work?

A. None of my work has been published yet! I hope this changes soon, I am working so hard for this to happen

Q. Which artist would you love to do a collaboration piece with?

A. Many! but, eventually, I would like to do that with some of my compatriots like Pepe Larraz or Jorge Jimenez.
