This week, we welcome George Vega to the CBFC Artist Spotlight!
Q. Where did you grow up at?
A. Newark, NJ
Q. How long have you been drawing?
A. Since I was a kid watching the Voltron cartoon.
Q. Who was the artist you idolized while growing up?
A. As a kid, Jim Lee, Gerold Brom, Todd Mcfarlane, Larry Elmore.
Q. What character is your favorite to draw and why?
A. I don’t have a favorite but my favorite thing to do is capture what makes the character unique.
Q. A character that is on your “To Draw” list?
A. Starscream
Q. Could you please provide some tips on how to overcome artist’s block?
A. I think it is a matter of discipline. I get it that sometimes you don’t want to pickup the pencil. Pick it up anyway and start slow. Doodle a little or do an anatomy study. Work with the analytic side of your brain then you’ll be warmed up and loose like an athlete. “Warmup” is what I’m saying.
Q. What artist would you love or would have loved to collaborate with?
A. John Buscema for sure since I think I would have learned soo much.
Q. What advice do you have for new artists or people who want to become artists?
A. Always learn, improve, and look within yourself for what you like to do. The art field is very broad so it’s very difficult to offer specific advice. The truth is that you need to hone in on what you would like to work on because there are routes you can take but there is no guarantee.
Thank George Vega for taking the time to answer a few of our questions! Be sure to give him a follow!
Don’t forget to check back next week for our next Artist Spotlight! If you’re an artist and are looking to be featured on our page, please hit me up here. I’d love to hear from you.
