This week we welcome Alex Rivera to the Artist Spotlight!
Q. Where are you from?
A. Born in Puerto Rico, raised in Philly, hardened across the US!
Q. How long have you been drawing?
A. Always said I’ve been professionally doodling since I could remember.
Q. What materials do prefer to do your art with?
A. Honestly – most of my sketches, if it’s going to get digitized – will start on computer paper and mechanical pencil. Unless it’s a commission.
Q. Character you love to draw?
A. I’m a huge fanboy of so much – I’m not locked into any specific character – it comes down to what I’m feeling that day. But with that I do enjoy primates especially Gorillas!
Q. What Character would you want to draw that you haven’t drawn yet?
A. I literally have a todo list of characters from tv to movies to friends that have written some dope books! I’m not sure where I’m gonna start but I have a lifetime of awesome characters to draw in my style.
Q. What artist inspires you the most and why?
A. Interesting question. I draw inspiration from from quite a few. When it comes to fine art, HR Geiger is my go to. Cartooning, I have to shout out my guru Skottie Young. But I’ve surrounded myself with so many dope artist that I’m fortunate to call friends… and each and everyone of them influence me on the daily!
Q. What was your first published work?
A. Professionally – I think it was an ad in an MMA Magazine… lol. Since I’ve had a few from articles to tv interviews to a children’s book.
Q. Which artist would you love to do a collaboration piece with?
A. I have a hit list… some in works some a pipe dream. Although a dream Collab would be with DC collectibles to design my style of Bane!
Thanks Alex for taking the time to answer a few of our questions! Be sure to give him a follow!
