This week, we welcome Chris Williams to the CBFC Artist Spotlight!
Q. Where are you from?
A. I’m from Norristown, PA. A small township right outside of Philly.
Q. How long you’ve been drawing?
A. Been drawing since I could pick up a pencil. But I wasn’t professional til 2008.
Q. What materials do you prefer to do your art with?
A. I’m more comfortable with traditional media (pencil & paper), but I eventually want venture into digital media just to streamline my process more.
Q. Character you love to draw?
A. Anything X-men, anything 90s image comics era. Anything with women in it haha.
Q. Character that you want to draw that you haven’t drawn yet?
A. I’d like to draw more classic & indie characters, like those from the Sandman universe, Watchmen, Invincible or Saga.
Q. What artist inspires you the most and why?
A. My top 3 are Jim Lee, Joe Mad & J Scott Campbell. But Jim Lee Will probably always be my favorite & most influential artist. For my money he has the best overall mix of traditional superhero anatomy mixed with some stylized non-western influences.
Q. What was your first published work?
A. My first published work was the first draft of my creator owned comic, SUMMONS, which debuted in 2013. Since then I’ve revamped & polished the series multiple times.
Q. Which artist would you love to do a collaboration piece with?
A. I’d love to collab with Jim Lee or J Scott Campbell for sure.
