This week we welcome Ingrad Valls to the CBFC Artist Spotlight!
Q. Where are you from?
A. I am from the sunny Barcelona and lived here for all my life, in many places because my parents loved to move house every now and then. And now I am also moving often. But we always choose Barcelona.
Q. How long you’ve been drawing?
A. It’s like a cliche, but since I was a kid! My dad also loved to draw and I wanted to be like him! When I grew up I was told by my teachers that I’d better study something that could give me money in the future (meaning that art doesn’t give money…) and I listened to them (I wish I didn’t) because I stopped drawing for a long time. When I became a mum of my first daughter 6 years ago, I started to draw again, and I am the happiest person now!
Q. What materials do prefer to do your art with?
A. I have a wacom tablet since I was 14 and I am very comfortable drawing digitaly. One year ago I bought an iPad and I draw using @procreate . This tool is made for me!
Q. Character you love to draw?
A. I love drawing cute, colorful little children, maybe inspired by my two kids? I like to play with light and color to express the feeling of the character.
Q. Character that you want to draw that you havn’t drawn yet?
A. I want to draw more animals in my stories, I find them super cute and ideal to tell stories in my books, I have to go out of my comfort zone and start drawing more of them!
Q. What artist inspires you the most and why?
A. @aveline_stokart and @beatrice.blue are my main inspirations. Aveline is amazing using light and Beatrice is so good with color and cuteness. They are both so sweet and you always want to learn with them!
Q. What was your first published work?
A. I published my first book half a year ago, a very sweet book writen by @letilogopeda that helps children meditate using breath and colors, it’s in Spanish and it’s called “Enséñame a respirar con colores”, the translation would be “Teach me to breath with colors” if you want one, I can sign one for you!
Q. Which artist would you love to do a collaboration piece with?
A. I met Aveline in Sevilla in a workshop hosted by @lagaleriaroja and I got to know her, she is so sweet and great teacher apart from being a great artist. I would be super happy to do an artpiece with her as I am sure I can learn a lot next to her!
Big thanks Ingrad Valls taking the time to answer a few of our questions! Be sure to give her a follow!
Don’t forget to check back next week for our next Artist Spotlight! If you’re an artist and are looking to be featured on our page please hit me up here. I’d love to hear from you.
