This week we welcome Steven Beezer to the CBFC Artist Spotlight!
Q. Where are you from?
A. Louisville, Kentucky
Q. How long you’ve been drawing?
A. All of my life, but professionally focused since 2007.
Q. What materials do you prefer to do your art with?
A. Traditional materials, although I work digitally too, I’m still in love with ink & paper. My favorite tools are calligraphy pens – Pilot Parallel pens, and Pigma Calligrapher pens. I like the choppy and imperfect line variations I can get with them.
Q. Character you love to draw?
A. Juniper Redmoon (original character from Trash City).
Q. Character that you want to draw that you haven’t drawn yet?
A. Mazinger Z
Q. What artist inspires you the most and why?
A. Jamie Hewlett. He’s continued to evolve as an artist and explores new directions to take his art, from cartooning to animation to fine art. I admire that.
Q. What was your first published work?
A. Zombie Truckers from Fossil Eyes Studios in 2008. It was going to be a 4 issue miniseries but only 1 issue was produced.
Q. Which artist would you love to do a collaboration piece with?
A. Ashley Wood
